In late 2011, the Global Autism Project began a partnership with Alcanzando, a learning center for children with autism located in Lima, Peru. Founded and directed by Mapy Chavez, PhD, BCBA, Alcanzando can definitely be considered a resource and a center of excellence for the urban communities of Lima.
Together, Alcanzando and the Global Autism Project will engage in a rural outreach program. Bringing quality ABA services to rural areas is a mission that the Global Autism Project is passionate about. Sara Costello, our Peru Outreach Coordinator, has spent over 3 years cultivating relationships with local organizations and families in Cuzco. Extending services to rural communities allows for heightened awareness and many more resources for families of children with autism.
